At Lidl on Thursday the 10th of June

    4xAAA
    4xAA
    2xC
    2xD
    1x9V

    €4 each

As far as i remember they were €3-€3.50 last time but not bad for value and quality still.

Don't waste your money on them. Amazon are doing Sanyo Eneloop batteries at very good prices.

Unlike regular rechargeable NiMH batteries the Eneloops hold 85% of their charge for a year.

    Twice the price
    Twice the power
    Internet shopping
    Longer Lasting

Fair argument either way but for me the lidl ones do the job

I have a stack of Lidl ones here (in fairness they all suffer from it) that I'm on the verge of giving away as every time I go to use them they're flat. The Eneloops on the other hand haven't seen a charger in 3 months and are still showing 100% in the digital camera.

The amazon batteries are just 2000mAh.
It isn't clear from Lidl website what the mAh on theirs is.
There batteries rated at 2900mAh available.

I guess by power you mean capacity. NiMH are gradually getting better but 2000-2500 would seem to be the norm for AA now, and stuff at the higher ratings is very optimistic

Long life is great for remote controls and stuff
for everyday stuff self discharge isn't a biggie

PS. if you want power as in watts, try putting a paper clip across a NiCAD, actually don't as you may get burnt

Eneloops and other batteries that hold their charge have a slightly lower capacity than the regular ones.

Otoh, most no-name brand batteries rarely live up to their claimed capacity so it's unlikely the AAs from Lidl are the claimed 2500mAh.

Aldi NiMH are rated 2300Amh and they have them all the time by the tills, use them in remotes, keyboards in fact every where and at 4.99 a pack good value too.

Eneloop for the win, at what, £6.50 (with free postage if you throw more in) a pack? That's the bargain. Those are seriously good batteries, with excellent life - I use mine in a Camera and they seem to last forever without charging. That said, I use the lidl batteries in my remote controls etc. But I'd buy the eneloop over them if i were in the market for NiMHs.

Try to buy them for that price and you'll be surprised at the checkout.

Dealextreme stock eneloops and two other brands of low self discharge rechargeables. I've used all three over the last 12 months and wouldn't even consider ordinary nimh anymore.

Enenloop are decent cells. Got a pack + Charger free from Sanyo and they do fine in the 360 controllers.

    Hi all,

Some good advice here on batteries.

I'm looking for a decent set of rechargeable AA's for my camera. Currently using Duracell rechargeables and GP 2700 's that i got with a 2 hour charger on eBay for around €20 some time back.

I have noticed i might get an hour or so of life in the camera after the batteries are fully charged before it gets sluggish and the warning light comes up asking me to replace them. I'll do well if i can get a full day out of it.

Never heard of the Sanyo Eneloop Batteries. And don't want to fork out the high price on energizer batteries.

Would the board recommend the Eneloop's or another kind at a good price?

    Thanks.

GP2700's are arguably the best rechargeble aa's out there ATM.

The charger that came with the camera is probably a POS as usual, and IMO that's the problem that you have. Remember also that any battery has a limited lifespan as well.

The AA packs with the charger bundle are 2300mAh, so assume the individual packs are the same

My mistake...they are 2500mAh...tonnes in finglas at 4pm, so probably a good few still around

Higher capacity regular batts instead of Eneloops make sense only if you are using them nearly every day. If your use is occasional or you forget to top-up then Eneloops are the biz.

That graphic is from this page but my own experience is that the regular ones have nothing worth talking about left after a month.
