Tired after eating

    I get really really tired after eating. I looked it up and it said it's because I'm eating too many carbohydrates that are converted into glucose. Yesterday, I had curry but I ate a lot because I didn't want to be hungry again for a while (I was studying and I wouldn't be able to get something to eat). I also get tired after Coke (the drink, I mean) and chocolate. I hardly ever take them. I have noticed that I get tired for a while now. I'm just actually not able to study as well as I could in the morning or before I ate. Because I'm doing my Junior Cert next week, I really need to study and be alert fully. What food should I take? Thanks.

    I'm the same, I have the odd coke and bar of choc in work around 2-3 and i get pretty tired afterwards.

    I've now cycling in to work so cant afford to be cycling 20+ KM after a sugar crash so I dont have as much as feel much more energetic.

    Fresh whole foods. Cut out the refined and sugary carbs as much as possible. You've already seen you get an energy crash after that.

    Go for fresh protein rich foods. Protein is satiating, so you won't feel hungry soon after. There's a reason fish is considered brain food. The combination of protein and fat and omega 3 is ideal for someone who is studying or doing exams. Eggs are good. Scrambled egg and smoked salmon for breakfast on exam days?

    Drink lots of cold water. In studies, cold water is as good as coffee at keeping people alert.

    When you eat carbs, make them the low gi ones, like green veg with your meals, maybe a couple of boiled new potatoes, not pasta or bread. If you are eating rice, go for brown or wild. Fruit like strawberries or apples are good, try to avoid anything with sugar like sweets or biscuits. Try to avoid white bread. Either rye crackers or a good wholegrain brown bread.
