    OK. It's a significant bush.
Not just any bush - this was the Franciscan manzanita, a city native that was thought for 60 years to be extinct until the bush was spotted late last year.

    But
The discovery of the 8-inch-tall, 20-foot-wide bush was greeted with cries of joy by nature enthusiasts but quiet shock by the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, which suddenly found a leafy version of the spotted owl right in the path of a billion-dollar roadway.

Fine, it's a nearly extinct species. I can see moving it as opposed to just ripping it up.

Can anyone care to explain how it cost $175,000 to move a freaking bush one mile? And they say there's mis-management in the Army. I mean, really. The California Academy of Sciences would probably move it for free.

    NTM

$100 to move the bush. $174,900 for insurance. Why do you think there are so many Geico advertisements on the telly?

But it was a magic bush, in a fairy ring. Woe to the fools who disturb it!

I assume because its 20ft wide, and theres a desire to move the plant complete. It represents some engineering difficulties. Why it cost 175k to do this, idk.

My calendar reminds me of California. After Monday and Tuesday, it says W T F.

Good thing the recession’s over and California isn’t experiencing budget problems... Let the good times roll!

    Easy!
    • Sarah Palin-like shopping spree at Neiman Marcus ($150,000): Got to look good while posing for the press when the bush is being moved.
    • Santa Barbara Marriott AIG executive-like massages after bailout ($23,000): All that posing for the press while the bush is being moved can give you kinks in the neck, shoulders, and back that need to be massaged out.
Since I am a fiscal conservative, I called Volunteers for America to move the bush for free, I didn't exceed my budget, and saved you $2,000 from the original $175,000 allocated for bush moving. Where's my medal of honour?

Oh, don't forget to vote for me in the 2012 presidentials, cause I look good, feel good, and therefore must be good; plus no oil was spilled on the floor during the massages to harm the environment.

You bring Palin into the mix??? Well, here would be the difference between CA and Palin in rolls from a recent story about a jogging/coyote/dog attack incident involving a governor.

    A Coyote Story
Governor is jogging with dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks dog.

    California:
#1. Governor starts to intervene, reflects upon the movie 'Bambi' and then realizes he should stop; the coyote is only doing what is natural.
#2. He calls animal control. Animal control captures coyote and spends $200 testing it for diseases and $500 upon relocating it.
#3. He calls veterinarian. Vet collects dead dog and spends $200 testing it for diseases.
#4. Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting bite wound bandaged.
#5. Running trail gets shut down for 6 months while wildlife services conduct a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is clear of dangerous animals.
#6. Governor spends $50,000 of state funds implementing a "coyote awareness" program for residents of the area.
#7. State legislature spends $2 million investigating how to better handle rabies and how to possibly eradicate the disease.
#8. Governor's security agent is fired for not stopping the attack and for letting the Governor intervene.
#9. Cost: $75,000 to train new security agent.
#10. PETA protests the coyote relocation and files suit against the state.

    Palin as Governor of Alaska:
#1. Governor shoots coyote and keeps jogging. Governor has spent $0.50 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge. Buzzards eat dead coyote.

Any wonder why California is broke????

(heard it on the radio and changed it ever so slightly :))

Update and weird coincidence: Leaving the house for work and going to the car, I gaze at the beautiful Blue Mountains in the scenery and looking at the farmer’s field across the country road, I see a coyote vertically jumping at a groundhog hole. I stop a mile down the road to get coffee and a breakfast sandwich. There is a police officer also getting breakfast. I pay for his breakfast and tell him about the coyote up the road. His response... "Why didn’t you just shoot it?" It’s sorta nice living in a red portion of a blue state.

I hate to break this to you, but the governor in question was Rick Perry of Texas, not Sarah Palin. And believe he used a .38ACP.

I know all that MM. (Way to kill the mood :D)

It was a bit of humor I heard on the radio, and the original humor actually was told with governors of CA vs AZ as a spoof of the LA vs AZ flack & illegal alien Undocumented Democrats thing, based on the TX incident. (Wouldn’t it be great if after LA’s boycott on AZ takes place, that AZ shuts off their power). I changed the bit around to fit this post, as I stated that I changed it slightly.

Aside: Anybody see Paul McCartney blast GW Bush at the White House. Someone ought to have told Paul that Bush reads up to 100 books a year and is married to a librarian. Here all along we thought Ringo was the stupid Beatle.

Almost forgot about the faux outrage crew… Please don’t think I hope LA goes without power. But it would be fun to see them have to scramble to get additional resources elsewhere, because of their own ignorance and arrogance.

Now John Wayne! Why confuse us with facts, when it is more fun to make stuff up to support our weak arguments?

If GW is still getting his books off Laura, I wouldn't like to see his overdue bill.
