    Firstly Hello all.

Looking to get an ultra portable laptop, currently have a netbook, but find the processor speed really bad.

Will be using the new laptop for web surfing, watching DVD's and general everyday stuff nothing too heavy.

Looking for the following in the laptop: -
    i3-Core processor
    12' - 14' widescreen HD LED display
3Gb Ram (not too pushed if has 2Gb as I can always upgrade)
250Gb HDD (again not too pushed on HDD size as I have an external drive)
Internal DVD/RW with lightscribe (if possible)
    Intergrated Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
    Webcam
    HDMI output & 3 x USB 2.0 (if possible)
Light weight & 6Hr+ battery life.

I know it is alot to look for in a laptop, and I know the cost will increase because of the spec I want, but I don't see the point in getting an ultra portable that does not have these features.

Looking for advice on the best system to suit my spec.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Stuart.

It's not a lot to look for...
You're essentially looking for the CULV versions of the i3/i5 CPUs (am keeping an eye myself)

They're coming, but were only announced last week (officially).
Apparently Dell, Lenovo, HP, and Acer should be launching them later this month - rumour from Acer is the timelineX series will be an i5 CULV, and the 11z from alienware (dell) will also get an i3/i5 upgrade.

    Keep your eye peeled :)

    RikD,

Cheers for that. I saw a 14' Acer today, but no bluetooth. It would be €30 extra for an external dongle.

Actually, there are some good laptops out at the moment/coming out soon that use the full Core i GPUs and still get the kind of battery life the OP is looking for (witchcraft I tells ya :D). Most are using some kind of switchable graphics to switch between a dedicated card and the Core i3 or Core i5's onboard graphics (sadly, this doesn't work with Core i7s). Here are some I remember, this isn't an exhaustive list though:
    Acer Timeline X 3820TG
Acer Timeline X 4820TG (currently out in Europe (the ones in the links have German keyboards), rumor is they will (finally) be released in the US/UK later this month. )
    Asus U30JC-A1
    HP dm4t
HP Envy 14 (due to be released on 27th June. )
Lenovo ThinkPad X201 (just integrated graphics)
    Sony Vaio Z series

There are more (e.g. ones with just integrated graphics), the ones above are just the ones I'm familiar with (in the market myself atm). What kind of tasks do you want to do with the laptop? Any gaming?
