    Hi all,
I need a career advice, I am currently in final year of BTECH from DIT (part time) and preparing for CCNA.
Can anybody give me any advice on any Cert, i can do over the summer holidays to get better chance to score a job.
Was thinking to do MCSA but sure anyone who is working in industry can give me better advice.
SJCP was my other option but to go on developer route i will need lots of experience.
    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

Take any job you can get. Even one of the crappy 3 month FÁS placements that don't get you any more than the dole will get you some experience.

Agree with Sleepy. Experiance, experiance, experiance.... be open and expect unpaid internship. look for a list of companies with IT depts. and offer yourself for unpaid internship. Point out any small projects you could do that IT always need done but never get around to...

Also - decide if you want to go into programming or infrastructure. Very different paths and you need to dedicate yourself to one or the other....

I d recommend looking at the VCP as well. Vmware seems to be the thing employers are looking for now.

I have a degree in IT aswell but have little experience.Would i be better off doing a master or try and get some experience even if it was voluntary.

I would nail down all the education now, with a Masters at least you can branch into other areas.
Then as the lads said, take anything to get ahead, paid or not.

    Thanks Lads,
I forgot to mention i am in full time employment so taking any unpaid job is not a option. I am willing to do some voluntary work for experience but don't know if any company will take me for weekend.

I was thinking to do some Voluntary work for Camara to gain some experience, but i don't know will that be any good?

If you're looking to get into software development how about looking at some open source projects to get experience with?

The problem with the VCP is you have to do a training course to attain the qualification. The cost is about 4-5k from what I can tell.
