Just wondering if anyone knows how the operator of a dyno knows the best or correct gear for any given car to perform a test tun in?
What happens with custom gearing and diffs?

Afaik it's dyno and car specific. In the last 2 car's I've had dyno'd with 6 gears it was ran in 4th, and in a car with 5 gears it was ran in third, all car's had an lsd but I dont know if that made a difference.

I've also seen some hi power jap car's dyno'd in a variety of gears because they were hitting the speed limiter and still hadn't produced max power, probably confuses things even more though!
