BORD GAIS MEGA DEAL 2 YRS full discount extended

Bord Gas have become the most competitive Company in the Irish electricity market today after announcing that they will immediately be giving the full 10% - 12% Discount above the market cost for not just one year but two years always maintaining this discount.

They will also continue this into a third year at a discount of over 5% of the general market.

Bord Gais have claimed that this is the highest 2nd year discount in the Irish market.

That means that Bord Gais not only offers a better service and allows you to manage your budget in a civilised and humanitarian way but also is the most cost effective choice out of all suppliers.

Airtiricity is now officially a rip off merchant forcing direct debit charges and penalty fees onto unsuspecting customers and a bad service. They have no respect for your country or Irish citizenship and will not respond or acknowledge a complaint to them through their own customer complaint system. They are worse than
maggie thatcher's campaign against what they view as the proletariat irish.

Join the irish revolution and avoid these foreign invaders that would burn your constitutional rights just to get a few extra pennies from you. Say no to bad bankers. Paying your Bills the way you want to is a right of life.

If you feel airtiricty is a class above the rest your already a traitor.

Id rather keep my personal data properly encrypted and not left on laptops to get stolen thanks very much
Also to get the best BG discount on electricity you have to be with them for gas - whereas flogas are 9%cheaper

Airtricity for me all the way!

Bord Gais increased the 2nd year discount from 5% to 10% as a result of customers jumping ship to Airtricity when their 1st year was up.

You will still get a better discount, 12%, if you switch to Airtricity and pay by direct debit.

Isnt bord gais semi state? I.e. their profit goes partially to the exchequer! So by not using them theres less money to subsidise bank bailouts

Hahaha, strong post, thanks for the info. So Airtricity are Scottish? I don't want direct debit so I wouldn't be switching to airtricity, but I'm glad that Bord Gais are making sure I'm not tempted at least for another while.

Does this apply to exising customers automatically, or only to new customers?

    i think your all wrong they have brought forward the year three discount. And will now offer no discount in year three. This is because the esb prices will not be regulated then so they can't afford to offer a discount on unregulated prices;

You are right, I got the letter from them today, are they allowed to do this though when the original offer was over 3 years?

Just got a letter from BGE this morning (after the horse has bolted - I've already moved to Airtricity).

BGE are applying the 5% year 3 discount to year 2 instead, in addition to the 5% year 2 discount. ie a total of 10% in year 2 and 0% in year 3.

The market is constantly changing, and while BGE are saying this now I don't expect them to apply 0% in year 3.

There's no contract with Airtricity (this is what the winback BG rep told me after I signed up to Airtricity) , you can move anytime.

So what if Airtricity are Scottish?

We are part of the EU and companies can do business where they want.

It is good to have choice in the market.

All this talk of being a traitor is well sad.

How can they change their t's&c's after you've already signed?

I've heard they've changed their spiel on their radio ads, now stating that the discounts only apply to ESB regulated prices. So I assume that once deregulation comes in, all bets are off for Bord Gais?

I presume it's in the original small print.
    (c) We are entitled to change the price charged once we have informed you either by the publication of an advertisement in any national daily newspaper or by sending notice of the change to you by post. Any such advertisement or notice will state the date from which the change is to become effective.

Tell that to irish suppliers who have to pay tesco a hundred of million to trade with them. Very very grey area that free market of yours. It is not because they are scottish it is because they are here to exploit, like mobile phone tesco etc.

Tesco and Airtricity are two very different companies... Tesco is pretty much a law unto itself.

...Airtircity have a similar vein of ambition. Already they are becoming dismissive of their customer's and are focused on their ambitious plans. So much for the promise of An Post that they have been promising for years.
When they do start some kind of a service.. the discount will be long gone and we will have to pay for the service; that you can get now free with other suppliers.

Until then I'm happy to have the savings in my pocket, not BGE/ESB's.

If & when they do become uncompetitive on price on what is a completely generic product, I can & will switch for free.
