    Hi

    Looking for some speakers to bring with me on holidays, and knowing the vast mount of knowledge here am certain will be able to tell me whatsthe best to buy. Not looking for anything expensive - cheap and cheerful is grand

    I picked up an Altec Lansing orbit M speaker at the weekend for travel use with my iPhone:

    Volume and sound quality is very good - much, much better than those fold-up travel speakers you can get. It runs on 3 AAA batteries, and comes with a case (the short cable also wraps into the base of the speaker). Since it uses a standard headphone jack, it can be used with pretty much any device. It's only got one speaker, so it's not stereo, but most travel speakers are so close together that they don't really do stereo anyway. I have to say, I was quite surprised with the quality of the sound out of this - very clear, good bass and not hissy or tinny at all.

    I paid 40 euro for it in Harvey Normans, but I'm certain you can get it cheaper elsewhere or online.
