or, yet another headphone question! :o

I've been perusing the threads here on the headphones. Seems to me there's a sh!tload of options, i.e. the Sonys, Sennheisers, Creative.. and i'm better off just asking for advice instead, because i just have no idea what models of what brands are better than others for more or less monies! I can trade CV or IT advice in return :pac:

I'm looking to get a set of over-ear headphones (for my dad for his b'day). He's not much of an audiophile and neither am I. His MP3 collection mostly consists of iTunes ripped CDs at 192kbps, & about 48Hz i think, played back on an iPod nano. He has those wrap-around-your-ear-phones which he loves because they stay on, he hates the in-ear because they never fit and they're uncomfortable for him. Hence, i think he'd like the over ear ones. I reckon he had a pair 30 years ago! :D Sound quality would be important, but neither one of us would be able to tell the difference between a really great set of headphones and a really good set of headphones! So i guess comfort and durability would be the most important things to have. My dad is a painter & decorator and is into DIY and all that. I think someone said the Creative Aurvana Live were pretty comfy, but are they pretty durable? Have no issue spending up to €100, less being better obviously, but i would consider spending more for the right pair. Also, can they be bought in Dublin at all? Most of the comments mention buying online, and I know that's cheaper, but it would be more difficult for me to get! :(

    any advice appreciated,
    thanks

Yeah, the CAL! felt pretty sturdy to me, but it might be easier to track them down under the name Denon AH-D1001.

Tower Records do, and PC World possibly, not sure what the prices are though...
