I had the basic AA membership last year, the one that was 66euro from Dunnes, but never used it.

They called me today and told me my membership expired in March and would I like to renew. i said no, but asked about the cover were they pick you up and tow you home (rather than to a garage) from anywhere in the UK or Ireland. She said she would give it to me for 99quid as a special renewal type offer. Is this good value? Looks a good bit more exensive on their website, but im aware that they always offer special deals, so want to know how this one fairs?

I have Quinn third party only insurance, which i reckon doesnt include breakdown assistance...although id have to check the policy.

I think the tow you anywhere in Ireland is good value for that price. Getting tossed to the nearest garage IA not much use if you are stuck down the country

Quinn started giving breakdown cover with their 3rd party policies in 2009 iirc, I reckon you have it. AA membership is a waste of cash if you have breakdown cover on your insurance I reckon.

Never understood why some people would scrabble to get the cheapest insurance (usually with least benefits) and then pay for AA cover on top. Any decent insurance policy will include breakdown assist these days.

yeah, however, how reliable it is is questionable...
