    Hi all,

We have a new baby so instead of Spain or Portugal we are going to the UK on the ferry.

It will be two adults, a 4 month old and a 5 yr old boy. Has anyone been to Bournemouth and did they like it? We are staying there for 6 nights.

I also 3 other nights to book somewhere between Pembroke and Bournemouth - anyone have any recommendations?...is Stonehenge worth a 'gawk'?

    Thanks!

Bournemouth is a nice seaside town, but you will probably want to get out and about a bit as well, to places like Bovingdon Tank Museum, or Monkey World. Lulworth Cove, Corfe and Swanage are worth a visit as well.

A day out in the New Forest is good if you like walking, or if you like cars, Beaulieu is good. The walk around Bucklers Hard is enjoyable.

Stonehenge is a few big stones in the middle of a field. worth going to, but only in passing, You could do it to or from the ferry.

South Wales is probably your best bet for the rest of your stay, not sure where to suggest though.

We went to Bornemouth a few years ago with our 2 kids. It was ok but not as good a spot as say Salou or Costa Del Sol, etc. The weather being bad didn't help. The hotel standard seems to be old large guest houses that they call 3 star hotels. They wouldn't get 3 star here.
Seemed to be loads of elderly people on hols there.
The beach is allright but it was too breezy to stay on it.

Hi - thanks for the responses.

I agree with the hotel choices, a lot seem old and dated. We booked into the Village Hotel which are 4 star, swimming pool etc, so that seems nice.

Spain/Portugal not a runner with an infant to will have to make the most out of Bournement. I guess the advantage over sun holidays is that I will be driving so places like Longleat, Oakwood, Moneyworld (as Fratton Fred said) are all accessible.

If we can get the weather we have now it will be nice... :)
