normally they send letters first though.

Although if all is in order and your arent claiming fraudulently you will have nothing to worry about

they often call unannounced if they are inspecting suspected fraud like lone parents and co-hab.

I got a phone call from an Inspector telling me he was 30mins away and could he come and visit!!! The unfortunate thing was that we were moving house that week and when I told him my new address he said that it wasn't his area. A pain in the butt because it's delayed my claim even more!!

I wish they clamp down more on the boyfriend scam where the father of the child puts down his parents address when in reality he is living with his girlfriend.

Outta curiousity, what do they do when they get there? At what point does it stop being inspectors, and start being nosey buggers?:D

I've no problem with someone looking at my room, but what about looking in my wardrobes/drawers etc? Or my housemates rooms? They're normally locked, anyone know what happens then?

I often wonder this too...I don't mind showing them my room and the kids room...But surely they can't look in wardrobes and drawers and stuff...That's an invasion of privacy..Should they not need a search warrant or something for this??...

Well as far as I've heard inspectors only call out unannounced if they are investigating a complaint or something??...

If people don't want to be the target of inspections they should not apply for the dole. Weigh up which is more important to you.

I know most employed people have to work 5 days, are dictated their hours, dress code and even behaviour outside work to some extent. Surely this is against our human rights!

Yet all some people are being asked to do is answer their door for free money and they start moaning.

Not really. I know people who complain that they have to collect their dole in the post office rather than it being paid into their bank account.

what has that got to do with the question originally posted. also with regard to "people should not apply for the dole",people losing their jobs through no fault of their own dont have an option .they are entitled to claim whilst they are unemployed, and its not free money for those who have been paying income tax and prsi while working. do you think over 400000 people took a decision to quit their jobs and go look for "free money".
