Hi Guys.... taking my father for tour of Croke Park in July - just wondering if any of you know just how much walking is involved and just how many steps. Its just I know my mother would love it - but has an issue with steps (and the website does warn there are steps involved!) They are both in their mid 70's - we are staying in Croke Park Hotel (jurys) - and i dont want another horror trip to Croke Park for us Mayo people  ....more than we could bear!!
    any experiences appreciated!

IIRC there are steps going down into it, but I don't know how many are inside, I did go on it. Best bet is to email Croke Park, info@crokepark.ie is the email address on the website and ask

Cheers Rebel Girl. Might just do that. Will be a sort of reconnaissance mission ahead of Sept!

I did the tour, which is excellent by the way.

From the museam, you are taken in to the tunnel under the Cusack which is underneat the general public part.

From there, you need to walk around to underneath the Hogan and in to the dressing room area and out the tunnel.

Then its back inside. I'm pretty sure from here, we used an escalator to get from this level all the way to the Corporate Area.

Then we used steps to get up to the media area.

As mentioned, give Croke Park a heads up you are coming and they might orgainse something for you. As far as I am aware, there is service lifts to all levels.

Hi Chelseavera, can u let me know how you get on with Croke Park, I'm thinking of doing the same with my parents - dad is 70 and has a bad chest.. He hasn't been in it since '97 (from Cavan) so he hasn't seen it in its full glory

Thanks a million Colm R - just what i needed. Seems do-able to me. She's alright 'on the flat'- and the steps involved may not be too bad/or she might just skip the press section. We're going to the Cirque de Soleil show the night before - so she might want to absail or high rope across the pitch altogether at that stage!!
    Thanks again!

Did it two years ago and would heartily recommend it. The only steps i remember are when they bring you up from the pitch side (can't walk on it but you can touch it!) into the subs seats and Ard Co and if you're fast enough, you can get across and pretend you're collecting silverware in September.

Trust me, all the walking will be worth the effort for that brief moment to dream about forever. I'm from Waterford so the good citizens of long suffering counties like myself will know what i mean. Enjoy.:D

If there's a match on that day, there are no tours AFAIK

Just to let you know we did the tour on Thursday - and It was great. Quite a walk around the stadium, but my parents (late 70's) breezed it. They LOVED it - and there's a few breaks (little sit down opportunities) but in fairness they seemed to become young again and really went for it. The guide was great and took it dead handy anyway, and was only to pleased to answer questions as we went. Heartily recommend it!
