I try not to listen to ads when they come on while listening to the radio. I often listen to BBC radio and avoid them, but when I listen to Irish Radio one thing often stands out to me. That is that all women seem to be portrayed as hard-working, intelligent and balanced, while most men are portrayed as lazy, incompetent and feckless. this seems to be the case in most ad's i hear where its man and woman together, either in a domestic, retail or work environment.

It seems to be more or less the default position for most ad's where its a man/woman dynamic, and I wondered has anyone else noticed this and why does it seem so prevalent?

Ads pay the bills for radio stations. Rather annoying. I'd usually listen to Ray D'arcy in the morning and in the course of that 3 hours you'd hear that bloody Eircom wire free alarm system ad at least 12 times I'd say.

    Very very annoying.

I refuse to purchase goods or services from those whose adverts annoy and irritate me.

Therefore you'll never see me in any branch of Harvey Norman.
No nonsense.ie can look elswhere for their custom.
And I'll go to my grave without ever knowing what delights I might be missing on Ben Dunne's website.

All the above have compeditors who don't treat radio listners as idiots.
