I applied for a job advertised on FAS last week. It is a temporary position. I got a phone call, well a call came through to my mobile but unfortunately, I was driving at the time and when I got to my destination, I returned the call and it rang through to an answering machine so I left my name, etc. I rang again about an hour later but didn't want to sound desperate!

I haven't heard anything since so can I assume that I will not hear anymore?

Are you even sure it was about the job?

Yes, because the telephone number was the same as the fax number the CV had to be sent to!

Didn't hear anything today so I am just going to leave it. Doubt if I want to work for an organisation who don't even return a simple message!!!

A lot of places have their phone set up so that after 8 rings it goes to fax (as opposed to voicemail). This allows the business to only need one line for phone and fax.

I got the phone number correct. My guess is that when they did not get an immediate reply, they moved onto the next person. It did say on the application that it was an immediate start!!!

The job advertised was a secretarial position in a national school...hours were from 9-12.30 five days a week until the end of June, probably back in September until December. Just wondering has anybody any ideas what the hourly rates would have been? My guess minimum for 3.5 hours a day, five days a week and I would have had to travel 80 miles round trip a day.....probably would have used the bulk of the pay on petrol!!!!

If anybody knows or has experience of school secretary rates (National School) I would be interested to hear.
