help with self install - ntl - phone / broadband

i have had ntl as my tv provider and have now gone for the phone / broadband package - was not aware that i had done the self install - and am a tad lost - anyone else managed to do this ?
i have not got the wireless option

Didnt realise they now do self install for the broadband and phone. This shouldnt be possible as you will need a seperate feed brought in for the phone and broadband connection, some installers split the signal but they are not meant to...

it is possible to split the singnal once the levels are ok, 6,1 split normally are used in this case

As I already stated it is possible to split the signal but it is not meant to be the case, and how exactly they expect a customer to do this properly or is a customer meant to know the signal is strong enought to do so in the first place.

So youre saying that for BB and TV there should be two seperate signals coming in? At present in my place I have one box, with a splitter diverting the signal to the TV and the modem. Is this degrading my TV signal?

There will be signal loss using a splitter, especially if it's a cheap unshielded thing not using F-connectors.

I just got UPC broadband myself, got them to install it though as our current feed is the wrong side of the house and I thought it would be best to get a new feed straight from the tap outside as opposed to 20+ year old co-ax going through a 3-way splitter.
