Some ITAA Travel agencies licences expiry today
I just heard that a lot of the travel agencies involved with the ITAA, will have no Licences to Trade after today. Apparently most members of the ITAA have a combined bond which allows them to get their Travel agency licence every year. But this year they have not got the bond in place. They had already got an extension for the month of May, but this expires today. So many of the ITAA members will not be allowed to trade. I checked on the Aviation regulator website and it does in fact list a lot of ITAA members as expirying Today. Does anyone else have any information on this. As i have a holiday booked with one of the ITAA travel agency members, adn i am worried if they do not have a licence or bond in place. what happens to my money

The new bonds will come into effect from tomorrw 01June. The ITAA do have a collective bond in place but some travel agencies will have organised their own.
There will be no risk to your holiday as you are booked and covered under the existing bond so your money is covered by this. Any agent who has no bond in place from tomorrow onwards cannot trade and therefore cannot take new bookings.

Thanks Blood Mary for your reply. I was worried incase my money was not safe. I have just contacted the agency where i booked the holiday. And unfortunatly they could not tell me if the ITAA bond would actually be in place by tommorrow. Not looking very good. And they aviation regualtor website also says they will expire tommorrow.

I don't know why you are saying it's not looking very good? The bond isn't due to come into effect until tomorrow & The ITAA bond will be in place tomorrow - whether the travel agency you are booked with has been accepted into the collective bond or whether they've organised their own is what you really need to ask.
As I said, either way you are covered moneywise so you really have no worries regarding your existing booking.
