Got new HD box last week - and HD is great especially for sport! But is it me or is the SD picture quality worse on the HD box compared the old Sky + box??

Has anybody tried SD from a HD box through scart???

It's not worse per say,it's just that going from hd to sd makes sd look bad.

Ah yeah - going from HD to SD is chalk and cheese alright. But still think SD is worse than old box - RTE for instance was always good on SD - now the picture is a lot softer.

You may need to tweak your HDMI output settings on your TV to get the best picture. Remember your Scart output would have had different settings on your TV

You mean colour/brightness etc. on the tv itself for the HDMI source Slegs?

Yeah done that - but pic isn't much better.

Output on box si set to 1080i - which my tv handles well (Panasonic Plasma - which is known for it's handling of SD sources)

Yes, but there are usually other settings like how it applies its own technology to handle motion and MPEG etc. I have found that minimising these settings helps.

why not set up your old box via scart and leave your new box on hdmi .

then on the same channel switch between scart and hdmi inputs on your tv.

this should show any differences .

Can you do that with only one card?

I found SD to be definately worse on the HD box. That was via scart and HDMI.
