Panasonic Widescreen TV on/off button

Don't know if i'm in the correct forum here. The on/off button keeps turning off after 3 seconds after i turn it on..i tried using selllotape to hold down the button but it not strong enough. The tv itself is nearly 4years old...is this deemed knackered????
