    In the Pairc Wendesday night.

Not sure what the Waterford team is like, but the Cork team is pretty mediocre. William Egan, Lorcan McLoughlin, Luke O'Farrell, Tony Murphy and Cian McCarthy are the senior panellists plus hopefully Aidan Walsh from the Cork football seniors. However, from last years Minor team only Darragh Rodgers and David Drake were much good, the former is out for the year and the later apparently not involved. Similarly, quite a few of the Minor team three's year back have gone backwards, particularly Alwyn Kearney and Paidi O'Shea. Most importantly, we badly lack quality ball-winning forwards, bar Cian Mac, who isn't the imposing player anyway.

Could be an interesting match. I would expect that waterford would be handy enough but Cork have home territory - Cork by 2pts. Won't be going as all my ' match passes ' are being used up on sundays these days! gotta luv the summer.

Forward line looks fairly handy, would be surprised if Rob White does not get some game time. I remember him for Midleton CBS when they won the harty ( with Luke O Farrell among others), he's a savage golfer aswell apparently.

Great to see 3 players from the Duhallow division lining out for Cork under 21's and also the sub goalie is a Duhallow man. This is an example of what the promotion of hurling has done up in that division,a few years back you wouldn't have had a player from the division on the panel.

Looking at the respective line ups Waterford seem to have a lot more experience. Would i be right in saying of the Cork line up only Conor O Sullivan has started a championship game?

For the Waterford lads, was Martin O'Neill on the panel at all this year? Probably our most promising minor from last year along with Philip O Mahony

Can't travel due to work commitments. Is this game on the radio (or even better TG4?)

I wouldn't say it lacks experience - plenty of the Cork players have played inter-county senior.

Twitter update is really good. Unfortunately bad news for the Deise. Cork 0-5 Waterford 0-1. Cork hitting a few wides too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

0-7 to 0-1 to the Rebels at HT. 5 yellow cards dished out, seems like a crappy game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    0-11 to 0-2

2 sent off. One for each team

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,950 ✭✭✭deisedude

Looks like a case of what happened to our minors in 08 again when they were overhyped against Cork and got well beaten:(
Really was expecting much more from this team

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 7,849 Mod ✭✭✭✭suitcasepink

Thomas Ryans gone off injured :(

    Ermm 0.13 - 0.3 to Cork

3 points with only 15 mins left is a poor effort by Waterford. Expected a closer game than this.

1-16 to 1-3 final score. Both goals coming right at the end.

    Piss poor from Waterford :(

That is either a serious win for Cork or a total flop by waterford...... kinda depends on your perspective I suppose.... bit like last Sunday so!

I heard the full time report on this match on C103 after the 9 00 news and the reporter was not happy with the referee's performance. He said the sendings off and the 7 players yellow carded were a joke in what was a clean game. Cork hit a lot of wides also, surprised at the poor performance of Waterford, there was a lot expected of them this year.

4 scores by Waterford?? What the hell was that all about! Was led to believe they had a decent team at 21 level this year.

Fairly disgusted after hearing that result, can't understand how we only managed to score 1-3, we must have been brutal. Was mad to go down to this game, just as well that I didn't! Another year of U21 gone by the wayside, and for a team that really had some top class players, this result hurts. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

Not much to say - Waterford were atrocious, so its pretty much impossible to say how good Cork were or are. Egan MOTM anyway, played a ****load of ball at center back, Clifford best of our forwards, both of our midfielders and the goalie played well too. Michael O'Sullivan got the goal.

Maurice Shan got a 21 yd free in the first half, the ball just in line with the goal post we'll say, almost dead centre. He went for a point and put it wide. Noel Connors was magnificent, Tommy Ryan good in the first half and Five in the second half when switched to centreback .Just like the minor game a few yrs ago Waterford bottled it at the sight of the red jersey.Pathetic wouldn't do the Waterford performance justice.

Ah that's unacceptable from Maurice, and he's meant to be starting Monday!? Heard Noel got a hand injury? Hope he'll be fine for Monday. Yeah our underage record against Cork in recent years is just abysmal. I knew trying to beat Cork in P. Ui C. was going to be a big ask but Christ, I was expecting at least a bit more fight in us than what reports I've read suggest.
