Those AXPertec PSUs aren't much cop, and the 750W version isn't even that cheap! :o What system are you running - particularly CPU, GPU(s), number of 3.5" HDDs, unorthodox cooling systems and how much you've overclocked it?

Oh, and 2x6(+2) sounds like PCIe power cables - it has two 8-pin versions (you can use them as 6-pin ones too though) :)

    Thanks for the response.

    CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.67GHz

    GPU: Gainward GeForce 9800GT 512MB GDDR3,
    PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI/HDC x2 via SLI

    HDD: 1TB 3.5-inch SATA

Cooling system: 4 fans from a new Antec 900 case

    Overclocking: none

If you can recommend a good PSU for a reasonable price I'd appreciate it :)

but wasn't sure what "2x6(+2)" meant. Any ideas?

The 6 and 8 pin connectors for graphics cards.

Even a Corsair CX400 could do, but something closer to 550W would give you a bit more headroom for tinkering, additional HDDs, upgraded graphics card etc. And for when you OC that CPU :p Hopefully it'll be a long time before you need to replace the guts of that system, as the Q6700 is a real trooper! :D

If you can find the Corsair VX550 or Antec Basiq Plus 550D cheap anywhere they'd be your best bets :)
