Id say your floggin a dead horse mate trying to setup this kind of band.my advice is to try and get into an already existing band and go from there.Ive seen you advertise alot here over the past few months and not gotten any replies.
your influences are from bands that arent that well known.if you got into somekind of band and made some contacts you could start introduce some off your own creativity from those type of influences that you mentioned.
    Best of with it ayway.

I'm just really unlucky. Bands like Bauhaus aren't really all that obscure; I asked around and it seems most of the types that were into them seemed to flee up to Dublin or to the UK around the time I came down here, now all the goth/80s kind of nights are gone.

I've considered moving up to Dublin at some point just to have more stuff to do and more people to meet, but I do like Cork.

It's kind of bad though that I don't even see many people setting up bands in Cork that would be in line with my more mainstream interests either...

It's still worth asking though as around now people will be planning to come to college down in Cork from different parts of the country, etc. so there should be some fresh faces.

Theres not as many serious committed musicians in Cork as one would thing only alot of bluffers or people who are all talk but no action.
If its any consolation i set up aband from the use of these boards and it took over 12months of meeting people to get everyone on the same page.
Hang in there and you,ll meet people alrite

Best of luck with it anyway!

Totally agree on that. It seems the number of people who actually want to do anything has taken a serious nosedive, usually the opposite of what's meant to happen in a recession.

    Good luck to you too.
