    We don't do legal advice.

Offer + Acceptance = Agreement; Agreement + Consideration (money changing had or provision of some element of agreed inputs/outputs) = Legally enforceable contract.

See a solicitor. Oral agreements are enough.

Considering you had your deposit paid that is a form of a contract wether it was verbal or written. They should have at least contacted you friday night to inform you of the changes again. But its as simple as this, you booked the room (verbally im guessing) paid your deposit and had everything organised. Then they contacted you and cancelled at the last minute so its up to them to re imburse you for any extra expenses you incurred from having to move to a new location even if it was only your own home. From what ive read alot of people couldnt come because of the change of venue especially her grand dad which is unfair considering if it had been in the original venue he would have been able to attend. Best thing is to write a strongly worded letter saying how much extra you had to fork out include copies of the reciepts, explain that she was very upset her granddad couldnt come and explain that you will be seeking legal advice. See how they respond to that.
