Hi, I just bought a Kenwood KMix today after many months of ogling! I am confused on the fold function. It says it will go for 2.5 revolutions and then stop but mine doesn't. How exactly does it work, does it need to be a certain attachment on at the time. Any help would be great!

Sorry to bounce this, is this the right forum for this question. Does anyone have a KMix Stand Mixer that could help me. I am afraid it's not working and want to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

The manual says to turn the dial to "fold" then to 0. It seems like a useless function, as you can't adequately fold in ingredients with a paddle attachment as the action is completely different, especially with just 2.5 rotations.

If it's there to just briefly mix in an ingredient, e.g. flour, to minimise gluten development (say for short pastry), then just turn it to lowest speed until it just comes together.

If it's for actually folding in a foam, e.g. whipped egg whites, then a spatula gives better control, to minimise breaking the foam. Getting the machine to do the bulk of the work and finishing by hand is acceptable; it doesn't diminish the capabilities of the mixer.

Hay mine doesn't "fold" either. wouldn't be too bothered about it personally as the spatula method Magic Monkey says is the way to go.
