have been buying a few sealed games recently then re buying the same game so I can play it and not break into the sealed copy

I know sealed games keep a higher price but i it worth it in the end?

    What do people think?

It's only worth it if you'll be selling it on at some point as you already have another copy of the game to play.

I agree with atavan-halen, the only other reason I could see wanting to keep the sealed game would be that your one of those strange collector folks who believes unless a game is sealed whats the point collecting it :) Strange lot those folks are

I once bought a factory sealed Final fantasy 4 for the GBA for about 5 euro then read an article about fake sealed GBA games being sold on ebay and convinced myself that it was one of them and a con!

Anyway opened it and it was all 100% official...................Gutted

I only have 1 sealed game, Pikmin on the cube. I think it's a re-seal though as it doesn't have the Nintendo logo on the little strip that you pull to open the seal, if that makes sense :D I bought another copy so I could play it of course!

I only buy my games so I can play them. If I bought a sealed copy it would be opened and played the minute I got my hands on it.

What I don't understand are old sealed games set at a higher price than a new sealed game. Why would I pay over €100 for an old SNES game just because it's sealed, especially when it's a tenner unsealed? They're charging for the novelty value of an old game being unopened.

On the other hand, when you pay new price for a new game on 360 or PS3, you expect it to be sealed, but if you buy in Gamestop it's not. Those 'new' opened games you buy in Gamestop for €60 are effectively used.

Buying a two copies of the game so you can keep a sealed copy, you know I reckon the game shops love to see you walk in the door!
    Honestly, I think you're bonkers!
If you are trading a sealed game in they'll just tear open the plastic to check, then give you the trade in value anyways, if you are selling on Adverts.ie most people will judge the game to be preowned, regardless of wrapper, and offer you the preowned price.

Old sealed things are collectable. As they are old, there are very few sealed copies left. As most kids tore the packaging off as soon as they got them. So it makes sense given that they are rarer than opened copies.

I'm fairly sure I don't own anything that is factory sealed. I'd rather not either to be honest. Love things to be complete and in mint condition, but I also like to be able to open them up and take a look.

I have a sealed copy of Schrödinger's Cat for the GBA; starting to wonder if there's a cart in there after all.

I have a sealed copy of... ah who am I kidding. I tend to rip of seals before I even bring the game home, and always have.

I know sealed (old) things often fetch more, but I don't see the point of a game / book / whatever that you can't play, read, whatever.

I was looking around for Orange Box on Xbox for ages and couldn't find it new or 2nd hand. Then I found a few in Smyths new. I considered buying two and keeping one sealed to sell on. Sure now I can't even sell a used one :p It's hard to imagine PS3/Xbox 360 games going up/retaining their value in a few years. The theory supports it cuz of the downloads but I dunno....

Buying retro games sealed? Crazy talk :pac: just get a mint copy of sometihng and seal it yourself. Laser, the video shop, in Dublin has it's own sealing machine thingymajig. I'm sure you could find somewhere with one that'd seal it for you.

Smart people and collectors will. There are always some, ahem, fools who might not notice.

Anyway games are meant to be played, sure as hell not meant to be sealed up.
