Signing up under age

    Hi,

I'm 18 on July 27th and have been 'gambling' with my older brothers ladbrokes account for the past two years.

Overall, I'm up about €300 and he takes a bit of a slice because I'm using his account and stuff etc..

Anyways, want my own account, in my own name and all that lark. Thing is, if I sign up online and say I'm 18, is there any pit fall in the future (when I am 18) that the bookies can say....."Hey mate, you date of birth is wrong here"...

There really shouldn't be any issue, eh? Build up my bankroll online, head into the bookies when 18, produce my card, produce ID and hey presto I've got a few bob in me pocket walking out. (Provided I win :p)

    Cheers in advance.

Also, anyone know how strict some are?

Ie.. PaddyPower/Ladbrokes/Boylesports/WilliamHill etc... any of them a little more lenient shall we say? lol

Paddy Power have them new cash cards out. Problem for you is that on registering your card you need to produce a photo id. So if you do, you will probably have two different date of birth's and they will just refuse it.

Don't you have to scan them a passport to register?

    Iirc I had to.

Maybe. But I was led to believe that you had to produce photo id in one of their shops.

I opened a Boylesports account when I was 17, opened it online then went to the shop to deposit. Soon as I hit 18, changed the date of birth online and could withdraw in the shops no hassle...

Actually, I'd say your safest bet is to try and set up a moneybookers account and to deposit and withdraw using that...

I'm not saying they don't but I just don't see why they do.

Being under age myself I would think alot of under 18's would be doing that.

Ok I agree it may be more money for them but I would of thought it would be strictly against policy.

That's only my opinion at the end of the day.

Don't do it! You'll look back in ten years time and wich that you hadn't.

I didn't set up an account. I just said that because of my age, I know how this age group works and that's what would happen if you understand.

    Sorry for the confusion.

But now Boyle's is tempting me ;)

No worries. Might setup a Ladbrokes account.... hmm..... I'm just afraid of having the fake information setup and I'm 'in', then when I go to the shop when I AM 18 and produce my ID to withdraw winnings, they'll stop and refuse as I clearly signed up when I was 17.... :-|

Basically, when withdrawing cash, do the bookies check all details not only on your ID, but in their system too?

I was thinking, they (the bookies) wouldn't make a deal of it or else they'd surely be culpable for some legal action seeing as a 'minor' signed up to their services?

Exactly. Not being funny but that's just why I'm going to wait.

Alternatively you could try become good friends with your look bookies staff, like your polite hello's and quick chats. If so they may turn a blind eye to your age ;)
