Questions about Studio 15 Laptop.

Does anyone have a Dell Studio 15 laptop? What do you think of it?

What is it capable of doing? Would it be ok for photo editing? What range of games would it be able to play?

I don't know much about computer specs, so any help is appreciated.

One downside is the screen - 1366x768 is quite a low resolution, especially vertically. It can be ugraded to 1080p though.

The processors are all very decent, especially the i5s.

Gaming would not be its strong point, the ATI 5470 would be considered a lowish-end discrete card currently. It'll play games if you want, but anything recent would need very reduced settings. Older games would fare much better of course.

I had some very bad experiences with the Studio 15. Media buttons reset their settings to default on every boot (and if you remove the extremely annoying quickset software, you have to fix those settings in the BIOS), the slot loading drive only works half the time, the eject button stops working quickly (on all 3 replacement keyboards I was given), the damn thing overheated after about an hour of basic use (non-HD movies, i7-720) and the motherboard had to be replaced twice.

Oh, and the screen is crap to look at, low res, and gets covered in fingerprints very quickly, as does the back of the screen and the areas around the keyboard.

Oh, and also I found out the reason for giving you two audio outputs. The damn things break within a month.

Other than that, though.... It's all puppies and rainbows. (I got a refund.)

Not had any problems with mine really apart from when the charger broke and I had to send it back.
