Due to the amount of Negativity regarding The A&A News Section i am now stopping posting in it, It is appreciated on other forums as all you ever get in Mainstream Media Aviation wise is Negativity, so if you cant appreciate news being posted in a good light on a Forum where next to nothing is happening in Ireland or Homegrown News Aviation wise if anything then why bother try to entertain the masses.

I never made you look at that Thread it i just posted in it, it's up to you to look there.

Andyg close it if that what they want...

Theres no issue with aviation news, there is an issue regarding you feeling that you "own" the news articles you post.

I take the same view that if people don't want to read that aviation news thread they don't have to, It was our suggestion you post in there much rather then all over the forum so I don't see why you think its not working properly?? You post the news and people read if if they wish.

If you're saying this due to the other thread about the Hypersonic aircraft then that's a separate issue. If other people happen to post the same news item its not up to you to moderate their posts or admonish them in any way. Fair enough people should not post stuff thats already linked, but thats up to Andy or myself to fix, not you.

I don't thing you should stop posting in the news thread just because of the opinions of a few. I for one appreciate that you would go to the trouble to keep it updated and keep it current. Granted the news is never always going to be ground breaking stuff because that's just what any news column is. I don't sit down with a bag of popcorn for the six o clock news every day because its not designed to be entertaining, its just news, keeping the masses informed. From time to time there will be a section that interests me as I'm sure other sections interest other people. I'm certain that there are a lot of regular readers here that agree with me.

I enjoyed the news thread it kept all of informed its definetly a great asset to the forum. and there is a few other people that post in it too which is nice to see. Tbh i think it would be a shame to let it go i even read the mil aviation thread in the military forum and thats another great asset.

Again though with all threads i say the same thing if you dont agree with something or a poster just report the post and dont derail a good thread.

When you report the post pclancy or myself will look into it and do what needs to be done with it. Andy

Well first off i dont "own" the news and it is open to as many as possible here to add/contribute to it as much as possible, my issue is if this was another Forum that Hypersonic Post would have been locked and the OP would have been told it was already posted.

Thats exactly what i do, infact as i have said and am at pains to say it again i only post something that would be of Interest to members, such as European or US Civil/Mil news which im sure people always want to know about.

It was posted in the news though and not as a thread by itself for discussion. Sometimes someone will open a thread about something they want to discuss and the news thread is not the proper place for that. It would get too cluttered and messy otherwise. There is a place for both, news thread for news and the rest of the forum to discuss the news, or anything else aviation related. There will be the odd double post thats just the way it goes.

Steyr, not nit picking, cos i enjoy the news thread too, but if the 'rules' about the thread are so set, why did you post the story about the air ambulance in a seperate thread?

The hypersonic thread was opened in a separate thread to generate a bit of discussion, as bandit197 (cool callsign btw, bandit!!:D) said.

Just because a few of us disagreed with what you said to confab ( and yes Andy, Pclancy, we shouldn't have allowed the thread become derailed, for my part i hold my hand up and admit to being wrong) but that's no reason to stop posting the news.

Seriously though, you should keep posting, I'd always read the headline you post, if I don't fancy the article I won't read any further, I've no interest in military aircraft so if the news is about military a/c I just move on. Stick with it.

    I say stick with it.
The news thread is for the news items.
News items worthy of a discussion themselves can have their own thread.

I think that there are a few interesting stories to be read there. Stories that aren't major enough to need a thread of their own, but that are still newsworthy. So keep on posting :)

P.S. The title of this thread is a bit too dramatic. I thought that "It's over" meant that a big airline like British Airways had collapsed or something like that

Cheers Steyr, I'm a big fan of both the news thread here and the mil aviation thread, though I dont post much and do a lot of lurking on both threads I find them really enjoyable!

Good man, Dave, keep posting. I rarely read all the news in that thread unless something catches my eye. Things that would interest me might not interest others and thats what its all about. I think that, in this case, opinions and choices of words have blown this subject out of preportion, maybe now we can end all the bitterness and get back to what this forum is all about....Aviation and Aircraft.

Sorry but going off topic here....

.......the strikes are not about free travel perks. They are about changes to working conditions at LHR. Personally I think they are striking over relatively small changes that are in line with industry norms. The recent EI changes were far bigger but didn't result in strike action. BA need change but before that happens they need the staff to realise change is needed.

However many BA crew were recruited in the last 15-20 under the understanding that they would commute to work on BA services. It was part of a BA effort to "internationalise" their cabin crew. Thats how you have BA crew working out of LHR but living in France, Spain, Ireland etc. And withdrawing travel perks for excercising your right to industrial action is bully boy tactics from a former union negotiator.
