Im starting a new thread cos I havent seen my problem already on here. Youll also have to bear with me as this is hard to explain. I have a 06 Peugeot 1.6 Hdi and its immaculate and lovely to drive but with one major problem. There is now 67,000 miles on it and since 45,000 I have an intermittant fault on it but no one can tell me what this is. I am appealing to some bright spark out there to enlighten me. When Im driving along the car will "kick" or miss just for a millisecond and then its back to normal driving. When I say kick thats the only way I can describe it, its a complete loss of power but only just for a second but its very noticeable. I have had it checked on diagnostic machine but no fault is coming up. At one stage a fault did show a problem with the DPF and a Booster Unit was fitted. The problem was in it again after 1,000 miles. It drove well again for 4,000 miles and it happened again. this problem comes and goes but no fault shows up. This kicking can happen now when taking off from a junction. It may happen once in the day and it could happen several times on a 30 mile journey. For that we could get several thousand miles motoring without anything happening. Please please someone help us with a difinitive answer as to what it could be..Many many thanks in advance.

    Hi Belinda45,
This could be an egr valve problem...As egr problems don't always bring up fault codes.
The other thing with these engines is when the dpf is going tru a regen
it advances the timing which inturn causes the engine to run lumpy..like a
    misfire at idle.
if you feel like getting your hands dirty have a look at this how to guide on cleaning the egr valve on the 1.6 hdi...:)
It maybe worth while giving it a clean as these do block up tru time.

thanks a million ron for that. we definitely will have a look at that site. how often would the car have to go through a regereration though. surely it couldnt be so often..

With a clean dpf it should regen every 500k or so,A blocked or nearly blocked dpf every 50k or so...when the cooling fan runs on after you've stopped the car is a good indication that its either in the middle of a regen or it has just completed a regen.....alot depends on if your doing alot of short or long journeys......dpf's rather long journeys....:)
With your fault i'd suspect its the egr valve.
    Ron.
