Wah! Dry Rot or Wet Rot on Decking Tiles

    I'm not sure if this is the right forum.

    I have 16 x 1 meter square decking tiles. 9 are much heavier than the others with a reddish wood. The others are much lighter and have fallen apart. I'm renovating the deck and there is evidence of rot in some of the boards. I'm trying to identify if it is dry rot or wet rot.

    I'll try and post pictures later.

    Its actually quite hard for a novice to tell the difference between wet and dry rot. I orig worked for protim (Now extinct) many moons ago and remember the surveyor telling me if you can cut the rot away and re brace the section to to speak its always best.

    Obv in public works this is not always an option.
