The press coverage of the marriage difficulties of Ronan Keating and his wife have been disgusting.
Front page photos of either of the two of them every day for the past week with additional coverage on page 2 & 3 of most papers.
Following Ronan and his kids as he plays golf with them at the K Club?
Is that really necessary? Do photographers/editors not think about the impact that this is having on not only Ronan and his wife but the children also and it doesnt help to see lies and speculation blasted across the papers?
Ive come to expect this from tabloid trash but the Irish Indo have had a front page picture of Yvonne Keating quite a few days over the past week. I expected more from them.
If the press dont know when to call Stop to this constant instrusion of peoples private lives, famous or not, I think the consumers need to stop buying newspapers and glossy mags that feed on these 'stories'.

I have to agree with you they are being hounded out of their own home. The coverage has been so intrusive, whatever has happened in their marriage is a private matter and they should be aloud to sort out their problems together as a family.

I would suggest that the reason that these stories are covered in such depth is that the a public thirst for these yarns in certain quarters.

And, to be biblical (!) "whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap"

If you flirt with the media for years and then expect them to back off when you cry stop - no, that's not how it works.

The people who do have that 'relationship' with the media know that's it's the ultimate downside!

A well though out and rational view

It's all indescribably tedious. Once we knew he was playing away and had seen pix of pair looking concerned getting out of car in shades, what else of interest was there?

The type of music Ronan chose to take on as a career, needs the media as a promotional tool, this is the downside of that relationship, and it is unavoidable.

If the Keatings wanted to resolve their marital problems why did they issue a statement to the media and general public about their difficulties?

    Funny that, isn't it.

Grainne Seoige and her hubby did likewise.

Get real. These celebs need the media and need to be covered by the various media outlets.

I remember when the Beckhams were dating, their publicist would contact the various red tops in London and inform where, what time and what exit they would be leaving certain shops.

We would see these photos in the next day's newspapers and Posh and Becks walking along the street oblivious to the fact they were being photographed. Bull****! They knew damn well what was happening.

These celebs need the media to write about them.

In last Sunday's Indo, I couldn't follow an article written about Rosanna Davison ranting on about rumours about her and her family. Who was saying what about her in VIP circles?

I remember she was interviewed in the Evening Herald and she said she really admired Kathryn Thomas and her travel programme on RTE television, and she would love to present such a programme.
    I laughed.

These wannabe famous people need a certain degree of talent to land such jobs and maybe Rosanna doesn't possess that talent for TV. Maybe that's why she is granting interviews to her favoured journos in order to raise her public profile.

Does she sing? Maybe her Dad C de Burgh could land her a recording contract!!

You do realise that a lot of these photos are staged for the publicity factor. And I find it hard to believe you wrote all that without criticising R Keating once for his actions. Sorry but you can't lap up publicity when it suits as they did and shun it when it doesn't. Was Ronan thinking about the impact on his wife and his kids when he was shagging somebody else? "Lies and speculation" is it? He had an affair and they released a statement on it.

I don't believe any of these photos were staged for publicity, they have been taken by the paparzzi that were living on their doorstep watching their every move. Every day they make stories up around the photos they have taken. He is kicked out, he is living in a bachelor flat, she has moved in with him, but he is going to OZ. Now the whole family are in OZ together. Neither Ronan nor Yvonne has spoken to the media about what they are doing, yet the press seem to know their every move.

The fact is, the media has no idea what is really going on in their marriage at present, so to keep quoting comments from so called "close friends", is pointless. Yes Keating had an affair, which he has admitted to being the worse mistake of his life, but the two of them are despartatly trying to patch up their marriage. The fact that have all gone to Australia together when Ronan was only going away for 2 and half weeks speaks volumes, it says they want privacy.

Close friends is usually a way of saying one of the people involved - in fairness you don't know what's pre-arranged or not. Ronan was only going for 2.5 weeks? Didn't realise the X factor lasted that long? You do realise he's going for that reason. To be a judge on it.

The bigger question is: Was Ronan Keating ever remotely interesting enough to warrant this level of coverage?

The live shows don't start untill September, thats when he will be there for the whole 12 weeks. This trip is just for the first round of auditions, there were 3 in Sydney last weekend, and there are 3 more in Melbourne this weekend. He will then return to the UK next week because he has 2 concerts to do. He will then be retuning to Australia for the final round of auditions in Brisbane which start the following weekend. Obviously there will be the boot camp, and the judges house to film so he could be back and forth over July and August.

"close friend" doesn't mean one of the people involved, believe me it can be as close as a friend of Yvonne's hairdresser, or one of the mums at the school, it can even be someone that delivers leaflets to their door. The press do not always speak the truth believe it or not.

I accept that, but close friends is also sometimes a way of saying one of the people involved. I've used it in that context before and have left some of my staff do so too.

No. We all know it's Keet who has the looks and the talent. Real grafter. Good on him. He doesn't need publicity.
