Off to the physio with ya.

Upper thigh hip area? unusual to hear that from a runner. Never encountered it myself. Could be back related also but since im not qualified nor give any medical advice on these boards plus the fact that you wont get a definite diagnosis over the internet - OFF TO THE PHYSIO!

Hip and/or ITB band pain is one of the most common running problems.

OP get to the physio for some stretches and treatment.

ITB in most cases presesnts itself lower to the side of the knee or side of lower thigh ... generally but considering it's the femur he's talking about it could also be ITB.

Yeah - physio asap man. I had a niggily achilles and went to the physio too late - was off training for 4 months running and really scuppered my race plans. The sooner you go, the sooner itl get sorted.
