UPC Phone/HD in Sandyford

Had a call last night from UPC to tell me UPC phone was now available in Sandyford. When I asked they guy if that meant the line had been upgraded for HD as well he went off for a minute, came back and said yes.
From what I remember Sandyford wasn't in the UPC upgrade map so I checked online availability and it states that phone is available, but HD isn't. There were a couple of UPC vans around a couple of weeks ago so maybe that was them upgrading.

Anyway, I've ordered installation for next Thursday so I'll let you know if they come through with the HD.
Package seemed better than the online deals. I'm trying to get confirmation, but I think it was €84 for:

    Digital Max HD+
Multiroom (digital+.......forgot to ask how much more for another HD box)
Sky Sports (free for 2 months I think)
    ESPN free
    15Mb broadband
    Phone with freetime world
    Disney pack (I added this)

Edit: just read a couple of threads about UPC engineers cutting Sky cables. Think I might have to take a morning off work rather than have my wife follow him round in case he tries the same.

You might be better off upgrading this to Anytime World if you use your phone a lot.

Yeah I mailed them today to ask the same thing. Phone call caught me on the hop and I forgot to ask at the time.

I'm in the Inst Est in Sandyford & we can get HD even though it says no on the website. You may have try pleading with them & explain it actually is available. IIRC, the way the ordering system works is to be changed to rectify this.

Edit: UPC upgraded or certified the area for HD & Voip about 3 months ago.

Ok, thought I would share my experience of UPC "customer service" over the last week. Sorry if this goes on a bit, but if I can just save one person it will have been worthwhile!

On 27th May I received a call from UPC with a cheery "Hi, your area has now been upgraded for phone and HD. We can offer you a package to sign up now that you won't even find online"
The deal was for Digital Max HD, multiroom, Sky Sports (free for 2 months), phone with Freetime World, Free ESPN. The price for this was €56.50 (€26.50 for the first 2 months). I already had the broadband (€32) and upgraded the phone to Anytime (€5) and added the Disney pack (€8) and HD+ box (€5) in the 2nd room.
Total for all of this is €106.50, which is roughly the same as I pay Sky alone per month, so on the face of it I'm saving around €75 per month.

Installation was yesterday and I was pleased with everything. The engineer did a great job putting an extra point in, very tidy, and showed me how everything works.

Now the bad part. I've been trying since last Friday to get written confirmation of this deal. So far I have spoken to four different people at UPC who have all given different answers. I've also now racked up 19 emails to UPC and have received 18 replies, mostly with conflicting information.

Three people merely listed the individual prices on the website and said that's what I'll be paying. I then finally spoke to a helpful member of staff last night for an hour and she was the only one to actually check their system for call logs. She confirmed that the 56.50 offer was logged and said she would get the billing department to confirm today.

At 11:09 this morning I received an email from support stating:

"Thank you for your recent Email.

Please be advised that per month you will be charged €56.50 for your subscription."

Happy days! So this evening I phone Sky and cancel my subscription with them, giving 31 days notice.
I then randomly check my email only to find the following email, received at 8pm:

"Thank you for your mail. As per your request, we would like to advise you that, as peer our records you are using the following services mentioned below :

    1}Digital Max TV : 33.75 euros momthly
    2}Digital+ HD : 5 euros monthly {Digital+ hd free for the first six months}
3}. Digital sports pack : 30 euros monthly
    4}. Disney pack ; 8 euros monthly
5}.Digital multi room viewing with Digital+ HD : 10 euros
6}Fibre power Broadband 15 Mb service : 32 euros monthly
7}. Phone basic with anytime world pack : 18 euros monthly.

So the total monthly bill which would be getting generated will be for a total amount of 131.75 euros monthly for the 1st six months & thereafter 136.75 euros monthly as Digital+ HD is free for 1st six months."

So what do I do? On the one hand I have email confirmation of the deal price with a name, but the text of the 2nd email has been sent to me twice. I know I could probably ring Sky tomorrow and "cancel" my cancellation, but I also filled out a phone porting form and I'd think this process has already started, and even if I could switch back I've now signed a 12 month contract with UPC.

Anyway, sorry about the rant, but I suppose the moral of the story is:
DON'T SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU RECEIVE WRITTEN CONFIRMATION OF A PRICE. Either that or:
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.:(

Looks very similar to the Fibre Ultimate HD pack which is €95 a month(€69.95 for the first two month) add an extra HD box €10 works out €105. It also looks to include the Disney pack.

    # Digital Max
    # Digital+ HD
    # Sky Sports & ESPN
    # Fibre Power Broadband 15Mb
    # Home Phone
    # Anytime World

Yep, but I don't think the ultimate pack included the Disney pack and multiroom. I can't really understand how they can have the offer price on their records, but quote me the full single prices.
Looking at the emails, their sales dept. seem to be telling me the single prices, but their support dept. quote the offer.
I'm very close to ringing UPC again to rip up the contract and crawling back to Sky, at least their pricing is transparent.

Don't worry about it. You got the contract at an agreed price over the phone and you have an email to confirm the price you agreed on.

The person who wrote the email with the full pricing just made a mistake. It happened to me as well, they had told me that you cant add mrv if your getting one of the package deals, this was wrong.

As long as everything is working then I wouldn't bother ripping up your contract yet. What till you get your first bill and if there is a problem they'll sort it. €106.50 is about right for what your getting.
