    hi,

just want to know if anyone has any info or reviews on 'wicklow broadband'? they came out today and said they have a very good signal at my house and the fee's don't seem too bad. i have no landline and the 3g dongle works well but can be intermittent.

    Hi there,
The website is pretty bad and is being updated, the broadband however is first class and leaves the other competitors standing. 20MS stable ping times to google.ie and no slow down in the evening. They have completely rebuilt the backhaul and now have Gigabit fiber with licensed Radio links from Wicklow Town.:D

Interesting, is that test from an endpoint or directly from the Backhaul ?

Do you have a list of the packages, the website needs a bit of updating ? Can you post Download / Upload Speed, Contention and Cap ?

Have to admit, you have me interested now!

There are probably a good few of us interested in your products, so when will the website be updated to be accurate/useful? I shouldn't have to spend time on a phone call to find out this info from an ISP.... Also posting daft results from speed tests that are in no way possible over a usual domestic setup don't give any credibility. If you are offering a fiber to the home product that would give 50Mb/s+ then you'll be the most popular ISP in Wiclow!! But alas, I fear it's not even remotely true...

This showed up on my available wireless connections earlier with five full bars. I'm in the Cherrywood/Tullyvale area and had never seen it before.

Connected and was asked to fill out a form for a free trial, did so and I was online within 5 minutes.

No idea how long the trial's going to last but it seems alright so far.

    Hi there,

we are starting to trial in this area from our 3 Rock and Kiliney Hill sectors.

    Speeds will be 5MB ->24MB.

When they say "Wicklow", I suspect they mean "East Wicklow". As per usual, Blessington - Baltinglass gets ignored.

Is there any one from Tinahely area using this crowd. If so, how are you finding it. How does it compare to eircom. Was thinking about switching. Any one know what the download limit is on the 3mg package

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭Kilo

Had a look at their website and have to admit it's very poor on facts. No coverage map, no idea what areas are covered, no way to check if you are and a phone number that doesn't appear to be answered that often :(

If they really want customers, I'd suggest that they put a lot more info on their website. There's certainly a demand in Wicklow but unless the info is there, people are just going to move on to the providers that actually give information.

Digiweb are as bad tbh, they give little or no info other than prices and their faq is the greatest collection of stupid questions I've ever seen. These providers need to stop treating their potential customers as idiots, the sad fact is that most of them seem to be staffed by idiots :(

    Hi Kilo,
You are right about the website, it's embarrassing to say the least. However We hope to have a new one online within two weeks.

    Hi there,

There are no download limits on our network, and the 3MB package has been upgraded to 4 Down 1 Up. Let us know if you want us to drop out and do a survey.

I anticipate that I'll be with Wicklow Broadband during next couple weeks.
    Ashford area
Here's what I get out of my DSL. I'm quite far from exchange and you'll see it won't be hard to improve on the speeds I currently have

    Nikkit2010 is mr Wicklow broadband

He is posting results from his house in Delgany where he has direct access to all his nodes

My experience with Wwbb was good at first but has been dreadful lately and they will not do anything about it nor will the answer my emails or phone calls. Next step is comm reg I think. Other people who have Wwbb are experiencing similar problems

    Stay away:mad:

I have being using this service for about 2 - 3 years. It was the only service I could get and for once that hasn't meant that I had to put up with something crap. I have always been happy with the set-up and would (and have) recommended others to get it.

I don't have anything to do with this company and this is an honest User experience for what it's worth.

    Regards

    Anthony

    Hi,

I'm in the Ballinastoe area and went for Wicklow Broadband for the last 7 weeks and so far find it consistent & reliable. The low ping's great for gaming, much better than i was expecting for this type of BB. Went for the 5Mb down/1 Mb up, see scrore below:

    Untitled-2.png

Had one issue last Friday left a message early afternoon and got a call back at 6:30PM, and it was resolved here and then-to do with upgrading the firmware for the antenna. Overall I'm very happy with the service

The following are the results I get using Magnet's Speed Test

    Download 2634kbps
    Upload 2857kbps
    Ping 19ms

(Yes Upload is faster regardless of the test system used!)

Hi all, I live in Kilcoole and have been using WBB now for over a year and am very happy with my service [speed tests etc. attached]. Note, I have no connection with this company other than being a customer
Ok, have experienced probs with service on and off, but what ISP is 100% perfect! Also, great people to deal with, friendly and efficient.
Would have no hesitation is recommending them :D

Just installed in Dalkey. Had gone through a very frustrating time with eircom where I had a pathetic 1.5MB down/0.2 up - close to useless.

Now, I have 10MB down/2.0 up with very low jitter with Wicklow Broadband. Fantastic!

Wow those speeds are impressive! Thinking of joining WBB now. Coverage looks good for the house, we can see the mast from the upstairs window :D

What price plan are you on, might I ask? 12MB or 9MB??
