Hey, I did a search already on the forums and couldn't find an answer to this.

Am trying to find out more info on the Short term enterprise allowance. The SW site says that it runs out when your job seekers benefit would run out, so if that's the case what happens then to your payments? Would you be going onto job seekers allowance when that happens, or would you be cut off?

Thanks for any help. Reluctant to ring SW as they always seem to have different answers depending on who you speak to and I'd rather know for sure!

Also can you still get a grant towards equipment you need or is it just access to a loan that they help with?

when your jb runs out, thats it. the jig is up... you have to face the big bad world on your own so to speak.

I think they will provide a grant to the maximum of 1300....

I'm also interested in this but not sure if i qualify or not... have to ring and see.

If you get the Short Term scheme, you are entitled to continue receiving your benefit for the remainder of your entitlement (ie. 12 months)

Thereafter, its tough. Unless you wind up your business and become unemployed again, and you would then get JSA, as far as I know

    Hi

As the above have already mentioned, once the JB runs out after 12 months you are on your own.

You can in theory go on to qualify for jA. This is means tested however and you will have to shut down your business and become unemployed to be entitled to it.

So you need to budget that after a year the business has to survive unaided. You will need to work on it like the dickens in that year to make sure that it can. This does kinda concentrate the mind a little..

    Hope this helps
