Child Benefit?

    Hi all,

I would like to ask a question regarding the Child Benefit in Ireland.

I am from Greece living in Ireland for the last 5 years.
Gave birth to my son here last year so i was awarded Child Benefit.

Last week i got this letter from Social Welfare to send them a notice of assessment for 2008 because i am self-employed and to fill out the
    Habitual Residence Condition form.

When i rang to ask why are they sending me all this they told me that Child Benefit was awarded to me because i had ticked in my initial application for the benefit that i am self employed and therefore is based on employement and is awarded in a different rate.
Also that i have to satisfy the conditions of the HRC1.

I asked few of my Irish friends and noone seem to know anything like that plus that i checked the Social Welfare site and all of that do not apply for EU citizens that live in another country within the EU.
It was stating that EU regulations concerning Family Benefits overule Irish regulations.

    Sorry about the long post.

    Can anyone please advise?

    Thank you
    Regards
    Dora
