Etap/Ibis would one - they've got multiple locations in various parts and are generally quite cheap.

etap/ ibis are about the place all right and often in out of town locations handy for driving to. They also have a sister hotel Suite Hotel so best enquire stright through accor hotels central web portal than on ibis or etap direct

another crowd that appeared on the radar recently are Motel One
slightly more expensive than your etap, but very swish and designery from 50 euro a night for a single room.

and another crowd called b+b hotels are cheap as chips for a fairly comfortable room.

indeed, but theres shag all of em!! a mere 17 of them in germany(actually less cos 8 of the 9 in baden Wurtemburg are actually in France!!).
Still, if you query through accor hotels central company wide portal, it'll pop up amonst the etaps and ibis-es etc if there IS one nearby!

also worth noting, at the weekend business hotels like Novotel or Mercure (also in Accor group) offer savage deals compared to their normal prices, especially at the out of town locations like at trade fair grounds.
If you have a family this might be good as some of them even have swimming pools which is good to amuse the kids!
