Garda Vetting Delays

Will anything ever go right for me again!!, I've been out of work now for 14 months , got cut off social welfare 2 months ago because the wife works,I have applied for hundreds of jobs without any success, probably to do with my age, hitting fifty shortly, anyway a couple of months ago applied for a temporary clerical position with an post, got through the application process and got called for an aptitude test, got through the aptitude test and got called for interview, got through the interview and was then told they just had to check my references and get security cleareance(Garda Vetting) That was 6 weeks ago, I was getting worried so I rang them and they told me that they were still waiting for Garda Vetting and that currently it can take at least 12 weeks. This temporary job is for the summer, its approx 12-16 weeks the position will be gone before garda vetting comes back to an post. I feel like giving up, is there anything I can do,any suggestions welcome. By the way I checked with some Gards that I know they said they couldn't do anything to speed it up and that the delay is because the GAA have decided that everybody involved in their youth teams coaches, trainers, physio's etc now all need garda clearance, there must be thousands.

Well surely if your vetting is held up then everybody elses is so I would be confident the job still exists because they could not start the process of hiring all over again because it would be back to sqaure one and they would never fill the position.

Im sure though your issue is down to the fact you no longer have that small JSB coming through but I guess patience is the only thing.

I know a guy who did Christmas deliveries with An Post two years in a row and after the last Christmas just gone they offered him a Full time position. So after the temp work you could be lucky to secure something.

However the same guy, he is a lazy so and so and prefers to be on social so turned it down. Some FVCKERS!

No, My issue is not that I don't qualify for JSB anymore, I'm not one of those people that thinks the state owes me a living, I'm willing to work for a living and I'm trying my best to get a job so when I do get one even if its only temporary I don't expect the state to mess it up for me by not being able to process a security clearance in a reasonable time frame and as I said previously these vacancies only arise in the summer so come Sept. no more vacancies
