Could tire manufactures design a runflat tire specifically for aircraft?

If so would this be a good solution ?

The wheels obviously jammed so regardless of what tyre was on there, it was going to be worn away.

As Mickdw said it wouldn't make any difference in this situation. It wouldn't be worth it for weight reasons alone. Tires are heavy enough as it is.

Presume this was a bearing seizure, brake system binding, covered by warrenty?

    How old was the plane?

Anti skid problem on that bogey causing the brakes to lock up. I doubt it would be covered by warranty. It could be caused by anything including maintenance relating to a wheel and brake change on one of the axles involved. I'm sure Qantas have changed those wheels and/or brakes at some stage since they got the aircraft.

Aircraft nearly 2 years old btw.
