all depends what type and capacity lipo you would like to put in it, a 7.4v 2000 20c will give you performance round about or over that of a standard 9.6v mini, if you thinking of putting in a an 11.1 then you may have problems

you you have a link to the m4 you brought?

    Is this the one?

    http://www.kingarms.com/productpage.asp?prodid=1227

I'm afraid there's no info on the product page, your best bet is to Google the model number for more info. I know Hobbyairsoft sell at least one version of this gun, I'm guessing the internals are all the same it's just the barrle length that's different, why not give them a call to see what they recommend?

    Damn that is sweet looking.

I bought a KWA Defender 4 specifically because I had read about it being built for LiPos - 2nd time I used an 11.1v LiPo the fuse went. I figure if it's going to knock out the fuse which is there to protect the motor in my AEG - well maybe it could just knock out the motor next time.
So now I just use standard batteries. I also realised that the increased rate of fire that was the only reason I bought the LiPo didn't suit the way that I want to play my airsoft. And if you've gone for a sniper version of the M4 well maybe rate of fire won't be all that important to you either.

you know what when something is lipo ready it does not instantly mean it can take an 11.1, running 7.4 with at least a 20c rating will give you greater performance that your normal battery's for the same size without blowing your gearbox up :)

    +1 on what Puding said.
Also - a 9.6v mini always does the job for me - in King Arms, VFCs or G&Ps. There is such a thing as overkill Sunni ...:D But if you do want to use a lipo stick to Puding's advice dude.

when you say lipo people just think 11.1 it seems, i started playing airsoft in the uk many years ago and at the time i think i could only get minis batterys in 600 or 800 mAh if you where lucky, so for me know adays to be able to get the lower of a 3000 + mAh 9.6 into the pace of a mini is the best thing since sliced bread :)

give them ago, stay away from the asg ones and get yourself a 7.4v with about a 20c rating and around 2000mha

Cautionary tale folks: mine was supplied without a fuse and the 11.1v shredded the gearbox. Same as ChiefDub, it happened the second time I used it.

    The motor was fine though.

You're not even remotely alone. A certain retailer has been selling the kwa m4 with an 11.1v lipo for a good while now, and most of them strip within days.

-very- few guns can take an 11.1v lipo out of the box.

    I'll second that! ;)

    Lipo = One second Rule

Rule = Fully auto for a count of one second then release trigger, pause for a second, then fully auto again for one second............repeat if needed;)!
Has saved many a gearbox from stripping pistons and gear sets!

Disclaimer.......I have used this rule and have found that it promotes both longevity of batteries and airsoft devices.......I accept no resonsibility for any damage to anyone's airsoft devices using this rule ....... use at your own discretion.
