    Hi all,

Would welcome any feedback on what I have in mind.

    Present
    1970 build semi
Front sitting room, 21ft long, 10 to 14 feet wide, gets sunlight from late afternoon to evening. Solid fuel back boiler fireplace operating for rads when cold.
Has two full height windows, approx 7' tall and one is about 7' wide the other is about 4' wide. Early double glazing, I'd say about 15 years old. Pretty drafty windows in the winter and room generally on the cool side even with fire and rads on.
    I'm based in the midlands.

    Proposed
Replace the existing windows and construct a typical 4' cavity wall to reduce the window sizes to approximately 3' (same widths). Wall left with nap finish on the outside and plastered on the inside. High spec double glazed white PVC windows. Also want to move an existing doorway entrance to the room which involves a lintel (sic?) and cutting out of a 4" solid supporting wall. All materials supplied except I can move the existing door and refit myself.

€4,000. Have had the guy in before and 5 years later no real problem with any of his work or materials.

Some more quotes to follow so I will keep the thread updated.

Just wondering about the €4,000, without any real foundation I had somewhere between 2 and 3 in my head, any thoughts?
