Forwarding calls from the UK

Not sure if this is the best forum for this. I am working with a company that is setting up a UK website. The company is based in Ireland. They want a UK phone number on their website. Are there any phone services that supply a UK number but forward it to an Irish number, preferably at a reduced rate because of high volumes.

If you went the VOIP route you can get your hands on a UK number easy enough.

Try these guys: www.magrathea-telecom.co.uk. They can provide any area code and non-geographic code in the UK. Rates based on call volume. They also offer a free option at www.uknumber.co.uk to forward either to an Irish landline or a SIP address.

There are also any number of other VOIP providers who could provide you with a UK number for your IP-based PBX, some of the better known being e.g. sipgate.co.uk, voipfone.co.uk, gradwell.com, etc.

Just my 2 cents worth, but when choosing a UK number consider a local area code (e.g. 020 London, 028 NI) or the 033 code. Many of the national codes (e.g. 084x, 087x...) are now expensive to call from landlines and are not included in mobile calling plans (even 0800 costs money from a mobile), and many people are averse to calling them as a result. Local numbers and 03 numbers cost the same as calling landlines and are included in monthly plans.

Get a call plan subscription from skype. For £3.95 you will get a UK telephone number which you can pick up anywhere. Also will give you 10,000 minutes a month to call UK or European land lines. We use very successfully to trade throughout Europe.

I do a similar thing - I use planet numbers and have a uk 0845 number. Cost was £49 set up + £10 / month & 3p per minute for calls routed to Irish number.

chopley- Any idea what the call rates are for www.uknumber.co.uk? This would be targeted nationwide so local numbers out of the question.

Thanks for all the replies, some good suggestions. What do you think of this option? 15.3 US cent per min to offer free phone calls to customers. Gives a good incentive to call. The company is selling insurance products btw.
