    Hi lads,

Considering buying an Iphone on vodafone but I was just curious, if I connect my Iphone to my home network when I'm at home does that use up any of my 2gb allowance? i.e if i'm looking at youtube vids while at home or browsing the net but connected to my home network am I using up my allowance from my 3g connection?

No, you only use your allowance when downloading data over your 3G connection. Data downloaded over your home WiFi connection is not included.

Can you use the 2GB for tethering on Vodafone or is that extra?

Tethering is extra. Although I have a question about that. In other threads it is reported that a jailbroken phone allows you to edit the settings to make the tethering setting identical to the normal browsing settings so the carrier can't tell, is this also the case with a factory unlocked phone that is not jailbroken? i.e. if I bought my phone in the UK from O2, paid the £15 fee to have it unlocked, and used it on Vodafone here, would I be able to edit the tethering settings, or would I still need to jailbreak it to do that?

I think you'd be a bit mad, o2 only have the 3Gs now I think and you can not get it unlocked just yet.

I'm not talking about the 3gs, just generally an iPhone. I'm happy to assume it'll be the same for the new one as it is for the current ones. Does anyone have an unlocked iPhone that is not jailbroken? And if they do, can they let me know if they are able to manually edit the tethering settings?
