His accent grates on me but his face grates on me more, he looks like a totally smug bastard, cant put my finger on why I think that though.

I've been hating this ad for awhile but just kept forgetting about it until I saw it the next time.

It sounds like an English accent and he talks through his nose!

That's not what I would call a Dublin accent, posh or not. It sounds more northern to me.

Saw the ad for the second or third time last night and thought the same. Completely contrived. Sounds like a Nordie trying to put on a Mid Atlantic/D4/South Dublin accent. Awful cringe.

What I can't understand is why no one in the ad agency or production company spotted how irritating his accent would turn out to be for most people watching. :eek: Then again if they're 1st or 2nd generation "Dort accent" types they would know many with a similar accent.

It's an accent that has gotten more nasal over the years. More a parody of itself not noticed by the speakers. I'd say hes a dubliner alright. Country grandparents. Maybe lived in the UK. He's speaking with his telephone voice as well.
