I'm looking for a small (1 person) tent as light as possible and quick to put up (and pack away), pop up would be good.

Really as light as possible- will be carrying it on the bike so has to fold into a shape that can be carried on a rack. Previous tent packed up as a tube which I strapped on the back. Not sure if pop-up tents will be so easy to carry, I think they tend to fold to a circle?

If I can only get a 2 person I guess I can live with that- previous tent is a very small 2 person.

Use will be continental Europe next month, so I don't expect it to get too freezing, or hopefully wet. I expect a mix of campsites, camping rough and cheap guesthouses.

I haven't been camping in a good few years but previous tent seemed to keep the water out and wasn't too heavy but something that is a little easier to erect would be good. Not that it was overly difficult but up and down did take a little while.

I have a Thermarest and a light Coleman sleeping bag.

Need to get it before Friday so shop in Dublin over online I think.

Willing to spend a bit to save weight or get quality but would be hoping < €100 if you think that possible. Would consider stupidly small structures if they save weight.

    I'm 6ft if that is a factor :)

Thanks for that Fuinseog. Any idea as to the weight? Double or single? Easy to erect/take down? Does it pack up small? Can you find it on their site here?

Apart from their fantastic backstory, I find a good rule is never buy anything made by Gelert that you don't mind failing at the most inopportune times.

you can check out their website or go to millets.its a grand tent for the summer. i would probably send a little more if i wanted it for harsh weather conditions.
it weighs less than a kilo and fits nicely into a rucksack.thats the single.
i also have a double (you would need to slender enough to fit two people in comfortably) set me back 60 euro. i tried in out in good conamara rain and it kept me dry.

Thanks for the suggestions lads. Looking around the net I reckoned a Coleman Rigel X2 looked perfect - under 1kg and would have the flexibility of squeezing in my rather small partner on accompanied tours. But at £65 online and €149 locally it was hard to justify so I dug out my current tent and at 2kg it is not so bad and actually very easy to put up as I tried out this lunchtime. So as leaving on Saturday I think I will just have to go for my existing tent. I think I'll order the Rigel for next time.

You could get a stephenson mountaineering tent, pretty pricey and you wouldnt get one before friday but they are serious light tents!
