    http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/25/rumor-sony-to-reveal-psnplus-subscription-service-at-e3-2010/

The folks over at Joystiq reckon Sony will reveal a PSN subscription service at E3 2010. I think it was always going to happen with all the surveys that were going around but what do you guys think of it?

I for one am looking forward to what it has to offer. It's not as if they are forcing you to pay for it, technically the PS3 is still free to play online. Depending on the price I think I would go for the PSN+ service.

its definitely happening, no joystiq reckoning about it

I'd be interested, but not at $120 (which would most likely translate to €120) a year. Half that for an annual subscription and I'll pay.

One of the reasons I got the PS3 was the free online gaming. No way in hell am I paying for some extra things I don't need.

The PlayStation Protection Plan is the only thing I see of interest in there, though damned if I'd pay $120, let alone euro.

Id defo pay for the protection plan seeing as my 60GB PS3 is 3 years old now !
I welcome the venture, some people that pay for it get extra benefits and the people that dont pay still get what they have now, easy peasy.

$9.99 a month is laughable. Not a chance would I pay that.

If theyre charging 9.99 per month it would want to be fairly special.
No matter what it offers tho, Im not forking out €120 per year for something i probably wont need.

Protection plan probably gives them an excuse to build shoddy consoles that break after the warranty.

Won't pay penny over 70 euro for it. They can't sway me with the offer of a free PSN game a month seeing as i only buy 2 or 3 PSN games a year, if i was buying one every month i'd probably pay up to 100.

this is an extra option. there will still be free on-line play the same as we have now. right?

But i can't really see them putting any sort of effort into the free part. I mean three years in and it's still very frustrating trying to play online with specific people in fact i might venture to say that they could make it even more frustrating so that people will sign up for their premium service.

From reading up on it on the web, fat PS3s are not going to be covered by the protection plan.

What a joke that is so. Will Sony be admitting that the original PS3 is a piece of ****? Will those of us with that particular PS3 get a reduction? I doubt it somehow.
