Just bought a 2nd had car last week and have already received the VRC from Shannon. Car currently has no tax disc on it.

Will the tax renewal form be automatically sent out to me or will I have to go into the local tax office?

    Thanks...

Nope, once the tax has already expired you will need to go into your local motor tax office and tax it there.

Thanks for that Bazz. Thats what I thought when I hadn't received anything off them.
Ah well, will just have to take an hour or two off work tomorrow morning to go into them.

print out this form - https://www.motortax.ie/OMT/pdf/RF100A_en.pdf
fill it in and either post it or bring it to the motor tax office, you dont even need the VLC, Insurance Cert or NCT cert as you've put the details on the RF100A form.

If the tax office isn't too far away, there is a drop box for applications, but you are probably best to post it anyway.

At this time of the month the tax office is usually mobbed all hours of the day so you could be an hour between taking a ticket and getting to the desk (my experience with Clondalkin anyway).
