I have mega dark circles under my eyes, no matter how much sleep i get. Anybody know of anything to stop them or prevent them or just make them go away? Or any super strength concealer to cover up when i'm going out? Thanks

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat. Pricey but so worth it. :)

I know so many people swear by this - but it does nothing for me. :(

I have very dark rings under my eyes, and having spent a fortune on creams and dietary supplements over may years to no avail, I've finally accepted they are part of me.

So I do my best to hide them - with Bobbi Brown's corrector followed by a tiny dabbing of her creamy concealer.

Sometimes they're genetic, unfortunately. I have baby pictures where I have serious dark circles under my eyes, I looked like I'd been on an all-night bender at four. But generally, drinking lots of water is supposed to help, and the right amount of sleep etc.

Touche éclat is probably the best under-eye concealer. Though I've heard good things about that Aldi one, the Lacuna brand?

I have them too! :( For the first year of my daughters life sleep was limited and even tho now I get a proper night sleep most nights I still have them. I hate it, I have erase paste from Benefit but its very very thick, I'd only use it on nights out really because it looks real cakey in natural light. I have another concealer for during the day, its from Aldi or Lidl and its so good it really lightens the area up!

My friend told me that putting used tea bags on them works but I haven't tried it yet. I keep meaning to tho! And I use Yes to Carrots eye cream. I don't know whether it works or not tho! But I use it anyway haha!

They say that it could be to do with allergies so if you wanna go get tested that may be the answer for you. Again thats something I keep meaning to do, just have to find the time!!

i've tried touche eclat and it really did nothing. i haven't been able to find a good eye cream. estee lauder eye repair serum and idealist eye cream (or something not 100% sure on name) was recommended to me but as its 50 euro each i don't want to splash out unless it really will be good. any other suggestions? i might try that bobby brown thing, is it expensive? anybody have a good eye cream? my skin is dry and a little sensitive.

I think about €24 odd. What's great about it is it doesn't give the under eye that white panda eyed look, that you get if you just use concealer.

It is expensive - so before investing, if you can, try going into into one of the counters in BT's or House of Frasier and try it out first.

I find YSL Touche Eclat to be pretty crap too. It just sort of sits on your skin, and if you make any attempt to blend it it disappears straight away.

I find drinking loads of water helps reduce them. Not sure if there's any scientific basis or anything for that though! But it works for me.

Also, if you use a foundation with good coverage, it sometimes works better if you just use that instead of concealer. Just put on the foundation as normal first, then put a little extra under your eyes and blend it, and a little powder then to set it.

    I also have this problem.

I drink 1LT water a day and get enough sleep at night, but I still have dark circles.

I also have the YSL Touche Eclat, and while it is good for covering blemishes/red patches etc, it doesn't cover black circles.

When I'm in Dublin next, if I get a chance, I'll pop into BTs and see about that Bobbi Brown concealer.

Oh I love bobby brown under eye concealer it's got such a nice texture and lasts ages. It works really really well too. I agree though a lot of it is to do with diet etc and making sure you drink plenty of fresh water (tea, coffee and coke don't count :p).

I'm not a fan of Touche Eclat either. I'm not sure if it's dodgy application or just a limitation of the product but I find that I can spot someone wearing it from across a room. It definitely has some light reflective quality in it because when someones wearing it I find the white panda circled eyes are the main focal point of their face. Personally I don't find that the white panda eyes look any better than dark circled panda eyes. Infact sometimes they look a damn sight less subtle.

I swear by the Bobbi Brown products. Firsty the undereye correcter, and on top of that the concealer. Both are pricey but last a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭RockPaper

I used Touche Eclat for years too and it was only just ok..God knows how much I spent on it over the years..Anyway that was until I read about the Lacura one in Aldi-it costs under a fiver and I really think it does a much better job!

I use Strivectin for Eyes which is supposed to help with dark under-eye circles-not sure it does to be honest but I think it does help with the wrinkles! It's expensive though but I am still using it a year later!

If I were to splash out on just one or the other of those, just for undereye circles, which one would you recommend? Thanks! :)

I find they work best together see! The correcter kinda regulates the dark circles and the concealer on top works wonders, so maybe the concealer?

Benefit's Booing is the best and lasts ages. Touche Eclat is watery rubbish

went into bt's today and picked up the bobbi brown stuff, got a demo and quite impressed, will see tomorrow if i can do it myself!!!

chatterpillar i found the under eye corrector to have quite a dramatic change and you could use it with your own concealer so i would go with that although it appears they are a team. maybe try getting one and asking for a sample of the other?

I too suffer with dark circles, and like so many people I found Tout Eclat absolutely useless. Benefit Erase Paste is way too thick and dark and looks really cakey on.

The best product I found that did the trick is

Mac Concealer NW20 (It comes in numerous shades)
It's in a small black pot and looks like one of their eye shadows.
It has a cream/powdery texture and I find it amazing. It blends in perfectly.

It's roughly €15 but it lasts forever! It also has SPF 30 in to too, so happy days. I also use it to cover the odd blemish too. It's magic in a little pot!

touche eclat is meant to be a highlighter anyway, not a concealer, so it won't effectively cover dark circles.

I read somewhere that dark circles under the eyes is related to a mild liver or kidney malfunction.
The idea of getting enough sleep to erase them is an old wives' tale.

i have this problem! people say i look tired, i've tried so many eye creams and concealer with 'eye bright' by benefit being the best i've found. its a pink pigment which counters the yellowly tone of undereye

I've had the same problem for the last couple of years and after much searching, spending and trying found benefit concealer to be by far the best. It's the one in the black flatish jar. Pricey but worth it. Hope this helps

I always use Benefit's Erase Paste, its a little bottle of magic!

I agree with all the comments on the bobbi brown under eye corrector, it is a great product for dark circles! I apply a light layer of concealer on top of that using a small fluffy brush and I'm good to go! Hope you find something that works:)

I would recommend using a really good eye cream. I am using the LIV one from Avon at the moment and it's doing wonders. I put it on in the morning and just before I go to bed and I feel so fresh afterwards. The concealer I am using at the moment is a bourjois only had it three days but it is alright and holding up grand.

Try using eye cream which visibly reduces fine lines and wrinkles particularly in the areas tending to age more quickly under eye wrinkles and bags.It is ideal for mature skin but also for younger complexions as exposure to the sun and smoking can prematurely age the skin. It's safe.

I use a MAC concealer which matches my foundation as a cover up, but because my circles are so dark I use Touch Eclat on top of that. That combination seems to work for me; set it with some translucent powder and I look vaguely human ;)

I agree iv tried all these products including the touch eclat pen...which defo gives panda eyes...especially in photos. The Bobbi Brown is neutral based and the yellow tone covers dark circles. Blends much better..pricy but last ages. At least a year!!

Yeah every day.. And even on days where I don't wear makeup... Also works great to cover little blemishes or shadows!! :)

That's great it lasts so long. I love Bobbi Brown foundation and have prominent dark circles, so I might invest, thanks!

I had this Bobbi Brown one recommended to me by a make-up artist mate of mine & its brilliant. I have dark circles and I find this one the best. It comes with a translucent powder to set it so that it lasts longer, and as a previous poster said, the little pot lasts ages so worth the money I think.

Deffo gonna try the Aldi one though after reading this thread!

I had this and didn't find it all that great, plus the powder part is really fiddly to open so I've hardly used it. It lasts a while but that the only plus for me, I wouldn't buy it again for the money.

on top of everything thats already been suggested, plenty of water and restful sleep/creams and concealers I think a good face massage every day when applying moisturiser (or whatever you use on your skin) really great for helping drain fluids from puffy eyes. (puffy eyes/dark circles are often caused by fluid retention which is why drinking water is recommended, I know there are genetic factors too but it helps) When you're applying cream massage skin naturally and as if you were drawing fluid away toward jaw line where lymph nodes are located. (beneath ear) :)

Just to throw another one into the mix...

I've always had the undereye circles - used to trowel on the concealer etc but really didn't seem to work. You know that look where the majority of your makeup looks nice, then you have what looks like two hollows where your eyes are? Anyhoo, decided to try to roll on eye thingy with the concealer in it (think it's Garnier...). Well...it's completely covered the circles, thrilled with it and it's a fraction of the cost of the one I was using (laura mercier).

I know whether the diff concealers suit people depends on the skin type etc but I personally find it great!
