Hi all - My 1st post here - Jimmy Eadie is my name.
Together with Liam Mulvaney at asylum studios dublin we are going to run
a 1 day recording workshop aimed at working musicians and producers
who are working 'in the box' at home.
There will be no charge for this, it will be free - just like all music is now:)
I thought I should post here first to get some feedback and see would anyone be interested in this type of thing?
I work with a lot of musicains and we are always swapping files and drives etc and I always get asked a lot of qustions about techniques and technology and how best to do certain things, so I thought it would be a good idea to hold a workshop and address some of the issues i have come accross over the years. It will take place in july -no date as yet and I'm thinking about 5 people in a session.
    cheers
    jimmy

    Well done Jimi.

Best of Luck with the Project.

Despite the fact that I obviously know everything :o I'd love to attend.

The issues converting stuff most efficiently from Cubase to ProTools etc would be of interest to me as I've no real experience in this area.

I would also be interested in learning more about moving between different DAWs. Sounds like a great idea overall.

Passing on experience free of charge. Amazing!

Would be interested too. Need to be exposed to more experience than that which I can glean from manuals and youtube! Using Cakewalk Sonar at the mo so would you be looking at Product specific training or more generic techniques that can be applied across all platforms (eg, EQ, Comping vocals, FX, Bussing, etc).
Generous offer irrespective of the content so "big up" to jimeadie

Great -Thats a good response, I'll post what we are intending to cover on the day and from that you can decide if its for you, I think some of the more seasoned engineers that I know here could actually come in and give a talk too not looking at anyone studiorat:)
    Cheers

Sounds great! How much experience with anything do you think is required? I have a lot of theoretical knowledge, but I've never used any gear (software or hardware) except for what I've developed (long story short I'm a music software developer and I want to get into music making but software other than my own confuse me).

    That is so strange.

Not taking the piss, I just never heard of such a thing.

Me neither, I guess I'm just an oddball lol.

If it needs more explanation of how I got there well originally I only cared about signal processing algorithms and implementing them. So I only played around with my own code until now that I'm interested to learn about more.

well, you certainly don't have to explain it to me, I'm just some guy on the Internet, but it is curious.

    :)
