Some people who are lost in life end up on a mysterious and powerful island. While there they find each other and fulfill their lives while stopping a bad guy who could **** everything up by releasing the island's power into the world. Also some other people comically blow themselves up with really old dynamite.

still working on the ins and outs and most thoughts raise other questions but I'll try to expand.

there was a plane crash the Plane crashed into the ocean and everyone on the plane died in. Some souls including the children were taken by "the others" where they were bathed in the pool of light and ascend, some judged by the black smoke, some needed to help other's let go, and some were selected by Jacob as people who could succeed him as a guardian of the island.

Well heres my attempt, it definitely doesnt cover all the plot points, I have definitely got some events and dates and things like that wrong as it was off the top of my head........ but I have to say I really enjoyed trying to strip the show of all its superflous parts and get down to the core of each season. And its only 499 words!! Now....... time to get down to that actual law essay I've been putting off doing by writing this!

"An island exists somewhere in the pacific ocean. The island acts as a cork over a magical light source. The light is the light that exists inside humans. In the light exists both good and evil. This light gives the island mysterious qualities. A woman and two children live on the island, Jacob and MIB. The woman protects the light source from harm or misuse. One of the children wants to leave the island, abandons the woman and sets about doing this. He is thwarted by mother. He kills the woman in retaliation. Jacob throws MIB into the light source and creates the “smoke”. The smoke is a source of pure evil who wishes to leave the island, destroy it and, in doing so, unleash evil onto the world. Jacob is now the protector of the source. Due to rules the brothers cannot kill each other.

The source creates an electromagnetic force. Scientists come to the island to study it. These scientists are killed by natives loyal to Jacob as they are coming close to unleashing the source. Natives assume scientists identity.

In 2004 Oceanic Flight 815 crashes on the island due to a power surge caused by the force. They spend 100+ days trying to escape the island and interacting/fighting with the natives and the smoke. A man who was exiled from the island seeks to find the island and kill the man responsible. He finds the island and six of the plane passengers are airlifted away from the island. A native uses the source to move the island and protect it. This causes the inhabitants of the island to skip through time.

The 6 escapees of the island realise it is their destiny to return to the island and set about doing so. A coffin is present on the plane that brings them back. Several of the passengers are transported back to 1973 and meet with other former passengers stranded in that time. Others are on the island in the present day. The smoke inhabits the body in the coffin and finds a loophole to kill Jacob.

In the 70’s the passengers attempt to reset the timeline by negating the electromagnetic force and preventing their plane from crashing. They set off a bomb and are transported to the present day.

Jacob has designated 5 of the passengers as potential guardians of the source. The smoke needs to kill all the guardians in order to escape. One of the passengers is chosen as the guardian and kills the smoke, sacrificing his life to reseal the source and prevent evil from escaping.

The people who escape the island die natural deaths. They then create a place where there is no “time” and where the original passengers of the island can settle their own issues, atone for their sins, find each other and “move on”. This is as a result of their time on the island being a unique and special experience and the defining moment of each of their lives."

A pregnant woman washes up on an island. Another woman helps her give birth to twins then bashes her head in. She then raises the children as her own. The kids grow up and one of them joins another group of people on the island. He makes a wheel. The woman doesn't like this so she kills his friends. He then stabs her and the other brother (Jacob) subsequently kills him and pushes him into a cave. A smoke monsters pops out. A few years later Jacob wants to stop the smoke monster so he makes a plane crash. One of the people from the plane crash kills a polar bear. A few things happen that end up having no bearing on the story whatsoever. Some of the people leave and then come back. One of them is in a coffin. The smoke monster pretends to be the man in the coffin. He kills a few people. Then he gets killed. Then everyone dies and lives happily ever after.
